Manic Monday #134

Filed under: anything under the sun, tags — Wrote by admin on Monday, September 15th, 2008 @ 11:29 am

What’s worse, physical or mental cheating? Why?
Both. Although mental cheating would probably do more damage. The physical comes and goes but when emotions are involved, it’s so much harder to forget.

Do you think men and women can be just friends? Why or why not?
Yes, but only if they limit the way they share things. For example, you can’t tell your guy friend about your marital problems in detail and vice versa.

How do you feel about dating co-workers?
It’s fine. I met my husband in the office actually. :)

Apple I - The One That Started It All

Filed under: technology — Wrote by admin on Thursday, September 11th, 2008 @ 6:32 pm

With all the news surrounding Steve Jobs and his health, I want to post about the first Apple product here.

The Apple I. This has been designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak, a friend of Steve Jobs. It’s Apple’s first product and went on sale at a price of $666.66 at the Homebrew Computer Club in California, 32 years ago. It is also the first computer that used a fully assembled circuit board containing 30 chips.

Photo of the Apple I. Not so stylish eh? But back then; this machine proved that consumers are interested on having their own personal computers too.

I’m glad I was born late. I don’t have to worry about computer case, power supply, keyboard and display just to make a computer work. The worst problem that I can encounter now is running out of laptop memory or crashing a hard drive.

Peer Pressure

Booking Through Thursday

books.jpg

Have you ever felt pressured to read something because ‘everyone else’ was reading it? Have you ever given in and read the book(s) in question or do you resist? If you are a reviewer, etc, do you feel it’s your duty to keep up on current trends

Not really but I hate not being able to relate when people talk about their latest reads. I buy a book IF I find it interesting based on reviews online, personal opinion from friends, and the summary at the back cover. It’s a different story if I’m a reviewer of course. I need to be able to eat and breathe books if I want to earn money from it. I remembered stumbling upon my favorite book/s of all time, the Griffin and Sabine trilogy. It seems all my friends who are into art have read these books except me. I didn’t feel pressured but I am dying to know what was so cool about the post cards that came with the books.

Promise Her The Moon

moon.jpgHow many times have I told you how great the Internet is? Without it, I wouldn’t know that it’s possible to buy the moon. I’m serious! Apparently, you can now own a moon property by purchasing an officially authorized lunar land. Some people buy this as a gift to their loved one to show how important they are. It’s not everyday that you receive a moon property right? According to the site, the romantic gift set includes personalized deed certificates, historical info about the lunar region, a satellite photograph of your moon property and coordinates so you can find it through a telescope. Now that’s what I call an out-of-the-box present.

Not Junk

Filed under: technology — Wrote by admin on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 @ 2:29 pm

I always delete promotional emails as soon as I receive them. This range from cheap prescription medicine, moving services, free webhosting, last minute travel deals and many more. No matter how good the offer is, if I believe that I didn’t subscribe to their newsletter, they go straight to the junk folder. But not Apple. I am addicted to it that receiving an email from them makes me feel like I work for them or something. The graphics that they used are not so bad too. I often wondered how great it would be to design anything from them.

This is what I received lately. Cool colors huh? However, with iPhone having its own MP3 player, it would be a bit redundant to have an iPod as well.

Not Just Any Cruise

Filed under: travel — Wrote by admin on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 @ 9:30 am

I wonder when I will ever be able to experience those amazing cruises that I only read about online. I don’t care about the destination as long as it’s luxurious and will meet all my pampering requirements 24/7. Now that I’ve thought about it, I’d probably go to an Alaska cruise if I can. Remember the scene from 50 First Dates where Lucy went up to the boat and saw these beautiful snow capped mountains? It looks so magical and makes you realize how small you are. I don’t think I can stand the cold though but with a view as magnificent as these photos below, I’ll do my best.

Questions of the Week #31

Filed under: anything under the sun, tags — Wrote by admin on Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 @ 9:20 am

Join Yen’s QOTW here.

1. Do you draw conclusions about what a person might look/act like in real life because of their photos posted on their blogs?
Oh yeah! Don’t you? Not that it’s right to judge people of course, but it’s fun. There was this one time when my husband and I were laughing at this girl who posted too inappropriate sexy photos on her blog. It turned our she was an old co-worker of mine (6 years ago) so I felt really bad. In our defense, we only laugh at people who thinks they’re God’s gift to mankind when the truth is they can use a dose of pimple cream.

2. Choose 5 online friends you want to meet in person. And tell us why each one of them.
Aside from the MBAPs, I’d like to see Alpha, Litzie, Kathy, Mai and Jacq. They’re just so talkative online that I wonder if they are really like that in person.

3. When was the last time you climbed a tree?
When I was 19 and trying to impress my boyfriend that I can climb faster than him.

4. Would you rather be a big fish in a little pond or a little fish in a big pond? Metaphorically.
Little fish in a big pond. No crowded places. No invasion of my comfort zone. ;)

5. Do you have any royalty or historically famous people in your ancestry?
None that I can think of.

6. Is it difficult for you to sleep on the “wrong” side of your shared bed?
Not really. When you spend 16 hours a day working, any side is good.

7. Imagine, you’re alone in the world, what would you do?
Dance naked. LOL.

8. Have you ever wished that you were famous?
Always. I day dream mostly of things that I could be if I’m not a mother and wife.

9.As you get older do you find that you behave more and more like your parents?
Not really but I’m beginning to understand my parents.

10. List your 5 top most wants to receive for Christmas this year!
Blogged about that here.

Christmas is just around the corner. This means Christmas bonus, 13th month pay and extra cash gifts from client. Which is why I’ve already started with my wish list as early as September. Just in case I don’t spend all the extra cash buying toys, clothes and travel, I would love to have the following:
