The Holidays

Filed under: personal stuff — Wrote by admin on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 @ 4:14 pm

… are here again! This means my husband and I better start taking appetite control. Aside from gift giving, I equate holidays with great food. During Christmas week, we hop from our relative’s house to another and saying no to food is considered impolite. Saying no is not the problem though. Once we got to taste the food, whether it’s a cake, fruit salad or pasta, we can’t help but get seconds because they are always good! There’s a reason why we’re all related, we all love to eat LOL. Would you believe I’m actually looking forward to my aunti’s leche flan right this moment? My mother-in-law on the other hand makes the best waldorf salad while my mom buys these great little cold cuts for guests. Sigh. I need to make sure that I, my husband included will not go overboard with holiday eating. I still have the ten pounds that I gained from last Christmas so I can’t afford to have more.

Questions of the Week #36

Filed under: anything under the sun — Wrote by admin on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 @ 3:47 pm

Yen’s QOTW

1. Fill in the blank. “I used to be a party girl but I’m not anymore.”
~ I don’t think I know any woman who still gets to party the way we used to once we became a mother. Don’t get me wrong, I do envy the young ones as they paint the town red. But sometimes, it makes me tired just thinking about it. I prefer intimate dinners with close friends now.

2. What makes you cry?
~ Plenty of things - sad movies, happy commercials, pain, conversations with old friends, unexpected sweetness from my daughter

3. Are you more creative or adventurous?
~ I think I’m more creative.

4. What is your favorite line from a movie?
~ Who knows. Lightnight could strike - Will Parrish on Meet Joe Black. This line was from the scene where he was telling his daughter about finding someone that you’ll love so much and will love you the same way back.

5. What do you do when you have nothing better to do?
~ Window shop online. From cheap furniture to kitchen faucets, sale apparels and footwear, kids toys, gadgets and computers.

6. Would you rather win an argument knowing you are wrong, or lose an argument knowing you are right?
~ Hard question. Who wants to be wrong? If I am wrong, I won’t even turn it into an argument. I hate losing.

7. Are you more organized or disorganized?
~ I used to be organized but ever since I worked from home, I stopped caring anymore. But maybe when we move houses next year, I’d be back to organizing stuff again.

8. What do you collect?
~ Books, photos, CDs and DVDs

9. Which gives you the most satisfaction, recognition or private success?
~ We all love recognition but any kind of success is very much welcome.

10. Any plans for the upcoming Halloween?
~ Trick or treating and rest.

Manic Monday #138

Filed under: tags — Wrote by admin on Monday, October 20th, 2008 @ 3:42 pm

How long does it take you to get out of bed in the morning?
Hours. I rarely get to rest and sleep so whenever I wake up (usually around 6AM); I do my best to enjoy the peace. My husband is awake somewhere in the house getting ready to work and my daughter would still be sleeping by this time. Even when I changed schedules at work (I now get online at exactly 7AM), I still spend an hour in bed even when I’m already wide awake.

Do you usually sleep on one side of the bed or another?
We still co-sleep so I always sleep in the middle. That way, I still get to lie down beside my husband and my daughter who sleeps on the other side, against the wall.

Something you wish to accomplish before the end of the year
I really hope I can stop spending my sideline earnings and start putting them in a savings account. Whenever I total my earnings a month, I can’t believe how much money is coming in.

Questions of the Week #35

Filed under: personal stuff — Wrote by admin on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 @ 9:04 am

1. Do you have a broad sense of humor?
Yes. I used to be the class clown, side by side with my gay best friend.

2. Is it possible to have a truth without an opinion?
No. You’d have to feel strongly about something to know that it’s the truth.

3. What amount of money would you shave your head for charity?
Err, sorry none. Does this make me a bad person? Unless it’s for something as big as putting all street children to school. And I mean all.

4. Do you find it easy to be totally honest with someone even though it might hurt their feelings?
Nope. I’ve always find it hard to tell someone they have a bad breath or body odor. LOL.

5. When people you know are laughing to themselves while reading, do you ask them to share what is funny?
Always! I’d love to hear anything funny all the time.

6. What stresses you out the most?
Too much work on a weekend.

7. Could you go one full day without speaking?
Never. When I was in Grade 1, my teacher asked my mom to come to school. It was because I shouted so loud while in the middle of a quiet session. I remembered we were asked to stay quiet in two hours. I couldn’t breathe because I wanted to talk so bad so I shouted.

8. Would you rather ask the question or answer it?
Both.

9. What is the one thing that always makes you smile?
Sandy. Gong Yoo. Books. I know you said one thing but I couldn’t stop at one.

10. Do you trust in love?
Of course.

Dreaming on a Friday

Filed under: travel — Wrote by admin on Friday, October 10th, 2008 @ 4:41 pm

I was browsing through some Mykonos villa rentals and got distracted with the photos.

I saw this and wished I was there, soaking under the sun, reading a book while drinking tequila sunrise.

But no, I’m here, in front of my laptop, working so hard that I can feel back pains. Either I’ve been sitting too long or my new computer chair isn’t as great as it looks. Anyway, I need to be patient now. In a couple of weeks, I’d be sun bathing in Boracay and won’t let time stop me from having cocktails. ;)

Twilight Overload

Sorry if I’m boring you with my twilight posts. I’m not only doing it here but on my other blogs as well. I just can’t have enough of Edward and Bela. I’ve never been this addicted to a character before. But now that I’ve read all the books 4 times, including the partial draft of Midnight Sun (which I loved and broke my heart), I’m getting excited about the movie. I’m not expecting too much just in case it won’t meet my expectations but to see someone posing as Edward is enough to make my heart race.

Here’s the latest trailer from You Tube.

A Reason To Shop

Filed under: shopping — Wrote by admin on Friday, October 10th, 2008 @ 11:21 am

It’s a secret but I’m shopping for baby clothes for my friend who’s about to give birth this December. I bought her tons of stuff already so she made me promise not to buy anymore. However, whenever I see these cute baby items, I just can’t help myself. They are soooo adorable and it seems as if they’re calling you to get them. Good thing I have three friends who have babies under one year old and two cousins who have 3-month-old and five-month-old babies.

Anyway, just look at these. I wish I found out about them when my daughter was still a baby.
