iMac Promo

Filed under: technology — Wrote by admin on Friday, August 29th, 2008 @ 9:48 am

I almost had an iMac. Last week when we went to the mall, I noticed that my husband looked pretty excited. When we reached Glorietta, I realized why. There was a BPI madness again on all computers and accessories. We were in search for a cheap 22″ LCD monitor so we jumped from one booth to another, hoping we can find a good deal. And what did I see?

This.

20-inch: 2.4GHz iMac. My dream machine. Well, next to 24-inch: 3.06GHz of course. It’s still pretty huge and the best part is, the store is offering it at a 0% interest. For only Php5,800 ($128++) a month, I can have an iMac. My own iMac. The one that I’ve been saving up for so long but no matter what I do, I just kept on spending on other trivial things. My husband said the monthly payment is even lower than what I used to pay for my notebook. So it’s all good. Great deal, awesome machine. The thing is I had second thoughts. I haven’t played with Mac before and know it will take me months before I get used to it. And then I’ll need to buy new graphic software, accessories, etc. Okay so I’m just making excuses, I know. While writing this, I wonder if I made a mistake on not getting one?

My New Mouse - Logitech LX7

Filed under: technology — Wrote by admin on Friday, August 22nd, 2008 @ 11:51 am

My husband bought this for me yesterday. A wireless mouse is one of the items from my list of things to buy. However, I didn’t expect that I will have to pay $50 just to get one. I specifically told my husband to not spend more than $35 and yet he came home with this.

The Logitech LX7 Wireless mouse

The Good:
Sleek and stylish design
Long battery life, up to 8 months
Additional buttons for forward and back to control your browser
Scroll side-to-side. Effortlessly zoom in and out of photos and spreadsheets.
Comfort grip; supposed to cut down on fatigue.
Wireless mini-receiver. Say goodbye to cords

The Bad:
I’ve gotten so used to my old Logitech moouse that this one seemed too heavy and too sleek to do anything. I’m having trouble navigating that I’m afraid to even try designing with it. However, according to my husband, I just need some time getting used to it. I hope he’s right.

Being a Homeowner

Filed under: anything under the sun, money matters — Wrote by admin on Friday, August 22nd, 2008 @ 9:54 am

Another friend of mine bought a house. It seems there are only a couple of us remaining who are still not proud homeowners. I wish my time will come soon because I really don’t want to waste money by renting. However, we still don’t have enough money to start requesting for mortgage quotes. When I buy a house, I want to at least be able to give a huge down payment so my husband and I will not spend twenty years paying high mortgage on a monthly basis. You never know what the future will bring which is why as much as possible; I pay for expensive items in full.

Boost your Entrecard Credits

Have you joined the EC bandwagon lately? I’m a beginner myself and still unable to customize my badges. However, I just came across a great way of increasing your Entrecard credits in a matter of few clicks.

entrecard.jpgIt’s called the Entrecard Credit Generator. Pretty self explanatory, right? According to the site, you can drop up as much as 300 EC in five minutes. You don’t have to click through several blogs and urls so you can drop 50-100 cards. With this EC generator, simply click a button and 10 websites using the Entrecard widget will be loaded automatically for you. Start dropping cards on each site and when you’re done, you can click the 2nd button/batch of sites. Click 30 buttons and you have 300 credits in your account instantly. Try it, it’s free. See if you can really make 300 credits in five minutes. While you’re at it, make sure you drop your card on my EC widget too!

Movie Nights

Filed under: anything under the sun, personal stuff, technology — Wrote by admin on Monday, August 18th, 2008 @ 5:35 pm

Need new home theater seating? A friend recommends the Theater Seating Store for all your seating needs. She just bought a home theater love seat for their new house there and couldn’t stop raving about it. She said their entertainment room feels like a movie house now that they prefer to stay in than go out anymore. Well, I would feel the same too especially if I spent thousands of dollars on a 40″ Plasma TV and surround system. Anyway, they are holding a monthly movie night from their place starting next month so I will experience firsthand how cool it is to have your own “home theater”. For sure, my husband will go home all determined that he can replicate the experience with cheaper equipment. ;)

Wacom Cintiq Tablet

I want a Wacom Cintic Tablet as much as I want an iPhone.

The Cintiq 12WX has everything that I’m looking for a pen tablet - light weight, wireless, direct pen-on-screen input, stand-alone monitor (can also be used for multi-monitor environments). The best feature I think is the precise inking resulting to “natural art like” graphics. It can be tilted up to 60 degress and offers brush and eraser strokes. According to the article from Photoshop Support, the cost is $999, which is actually the more affordable version. I’m really serious in getting one, if only I can decide what to get first - iMac or this. There are so much stuff that I can do with it. It can act as a drawing pad so I can draw as many artworks as I like, design t-shirts and even trace any printed illustrations using the overlay function.

New Techie List

I realize when I got back last night that my network cable needs replacing really bad. I’m wondering if the speed of my internet has something to do with the old cable? I used to have a spare but with all the junk around the house, I doubt if I can find it at all. While researching how much a CAT6 cable will cost me, I found a couple of items that I want to purchase in the next month or two.

  • New network cables
  • High end router with a wider range so I can surf in the office downstairs
  • Wireless mouse
  • 22″ LCD monitor
  • Intuos pen tablet (to all my clients, if you love me, send me one please!)

The list is definitely shorter this time. The bad news is that they are more expensive.

Golf Items for Giveaway

Filed under: anything under the sun — Wrote by admin on Friday, August 15th, 2008 @ 9:10 am

I suddenly had an idea today for a cool promotional item for my client. I was browsing this online shop for golf balls when it occurred to me how my client and almost everyone in their company are golf lovers. In fact, when they came to visit Manila last July, their first requirement was that they will check out the most expensive golf clubs here. I’m thinking we can put a nice looking logo in golf items like golf balls (or golf bags for top members) then add a complimentary two-hour tee time on their choice of golf club. I’ll try to pitch this idea to my client next week and hope that he go through it. He said he wanted something special and unique so I think this should do the trick.
