If there’s a handbook, I’d love to have one. We’ve been spending a lot of money for the past two weeks on toys, shoes and laptop add-ons. I know I should be saving some money, not spending them but these are all items from my long list of things-to-buy. At least I can focus on saving again now that I’ve scratched off some items from the list. NOT!
If only things were that simple.
As soon as we got home, we learned that our microwave oven is taking too long to heat the food and our rice cooker, third this year, broke down just like that. What I usually do when things like these happen is head straight to the supermarket to replace the broken appliances. But just to be sure, I told our helper to ask around the neighborhood if there’s someone who knows how to fix appliances. I’m pretty sure some of the appliance parts just needed to be replaced. The problem is there weren’t any one in the village who knows how. Handymen are a thing of the past LOL. Even my husband told me we should just go ahead and buy them to save time. Time, not money is more important to him. I wish I could say the same.
Here’s what I got last Sunday.

I’m soooo loving this purchase. And it’s cheap too! I only paid a total of $107 with a 0% interest option for six months if I want to. I feel so good and organized now. All my photos worth 45GB and scrapbooking kits worth 28GB are now moved to the new hardisk and they are all labeled and tags accordingly. What’s left for me to do now is to make two backups on DVD just in case my new hardisk fails.
We visited my daughter’s pediatrician today for a baby well checkup. While inside the pedia’s room, I overheard another doctor’s voice telling her pregnant patient if she wants to be tested for Hepa B because she’s been showing hepatitis b symptoms. I remember being asked too when I was pregnant before if I wanted a hepatitis B vaccine. I declined because I was absolutely sure back then that I will never acquire the disease. I could be right but after the conversation that I just heard, I learned that you just can never be sure. A mother can instantly transmit the virus to her child during birth. Other risk factors are drug injections, tattoo, unprotected sex and blood transfusions. You can even get it when sharing personal items with people such as razors, toothbrush, earrings, and nail clippers. Now that, I didn’t know. I just cringed when I remembered all those times when I share nail cutters with friends and house helpers. I better be careful next time or to take the precaution to another level by getting a shot for the whole family.
I’ve been researching the web on IT salaries just in case I decide to apply overseas. My friend recently landed a job with a whopping $75,000 a year as a web designer so you just can imagine my excitement. She said a web / graphic designer’s basic rate is $50,000 annually and the highly skilled you are, the higher your chances of getting a bigger pay. Now, she works in New York so I’m not exactly sure if $50,000 a year is doable if you live there. I guess you can always take the train and rent an apartment in Jersey to cut costs. Still, I’m so amazed on how quickly she got the job. If she lived below her means, I’m sure she’ll have no trouble buying her own house. Her fiancé, which is also a Filipino has relatives in Colorado and been wanting to settle there too. If things go well with them, and I hope it will, they’d probably be talking to a Boulder real estate agent sooner than they thought. I’m green with envy as usual, hence my research on IT jobs just to check if there’s something out there for me.
When planning to travel, you make sure to pack all the necessities from bottles to toys to baby wipes to quick snacks. But how can you really keep a toddler happy and content on long drives? There are tons of creative answers that you can find on baby books and baby blogs but mine would be as simple as getting a VCD/DVD player for the car. It won’t be as simple if you don’t have a budget but this is something we’re very much willing to invest on. My daughter just can’t take 1-2 hour drives without her two favorite DVDs - Hi5 and Harry Potter. Aside from her questions every 10 minutes, it keeps her happy for more than an hour that I can simply lie back, relax and enjoy the drive. This is the reason why she loves riding her grandmother’s car. The mere thought of a trip to the grocery excites her because not only she can get out of the house, but she can also enjoy her movies while at it. So buying one for our car is just inevitable.
I found two portable DVD players within our budget:

Sony DVP-FX820 8″ Portable DVD Player Black
$179.99
8″ LCD Widescreen Monitor
High-Resolution (800 x 480 resolution)
180 Swivel and Flip monitor
Up to 6 Hour of Battery Life
Dual Sensor for Remote Control
Product Dimensions: 1.3 x 8.9 x 6.3 inches ; 2.4 pounds
OR

Philips PET702 7″ Portable DVD Player
$101.50
7″ TFT LCD 16:9 widescreen
Built in stereo speakers for quality sound
Car adapter and remote control.
Up to 2 hour playback on rechargeable built-in battery
Product Dimensions: 6 x 7.8 x 1.5 inches ; 1.5 pounds
Both can play the following formats:DVD, Picture CD, SVCD, Video CD, DVD-R/-RW, MP3-CD, CD-R/CD-RW, DVD+R/+RW, CD. Phillips is so much cheaper and lighter but the playback time is giving me second thoughts.
Now this is something I can’t decide on just by reading online. The reviews will help but a lot but I’d have to see them working firsthand and check warranties and such. At least, I know which items to ask instead of accepting the first expensive item that the salesman will offer.
Do you love playing tennis for fun or already a pro? Whether you’re the next Roger Federer or just play tennis to be fit, TennisPlaza.com can provide all the equipment that you need. It’s a one stop shop for all tennis-related items such as racquets, shoes, apparel, strings, bags and other gears. This site offers only the best products from the most popular brands. Add their excellent customer service and you will never go wrong.
For newbies like me, I find their gear guide very helpful. The racquet guide was very detailed on explaining various racquet technologies like aerobeam, dual woofer, flexpoint, intellifiber, string dampener, etc. You’d definitely find no problem choosing between Wilson tennis racquets and Head Racquets after reading this guide.
The options for tennis shoes and apparel are huge. There are Nike, Adidas, K-Swiss, Babolat, Prince, Wilson and New Balance tennis shoes, both for men and women. The apparels are categorized per type so you can easily find a jacket, hat, pants and even undergarments for your next match. Personally, I don’t really need to be a tennis player to enjoy wearing those cute little tennis dresses and skirts that make Sharapova looks gorgeous as ever. Those pleats will do wonders to your legs when worn during hot weathers.
Aside from the products mentioned above, the site also offers DVD and books about Tennis, racquet accessories, shock dampeners and other personal accessories. Tennis Plaza also offers gift cards so you can be sure that your friends will love your gift, having chosen them themselves.
