SEO Wordpress Plugins
Okay, on to my first blogging tip.
This I learned from a client who asked me to install wordpress for him and then asked if I can add the 5 most important SEO plugins. He said that another designer offered him to do all those things so I told him I can do it without even having the slightest idea what he’s talking about.
Anyway, let’s start with the term SEO. What is SEO anyway? Let’s grab a couple of sentences from wiki shall we?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic“) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines
I’ve learned so much from that first project and been using the SEO plugins since then. As months passed by, the list have been updated so many times (mostly because of new wordpress updates) so I thought of just listing here the ones I have used. All my blogs and clients’ blogs are already using these and haven’t heard any complaints so far. There are also tons of articles written about these plugins so make sure to Google them when you have time. Now, if you ready to drive traffic to your blog, then read more here.
Head Meta Description
If you look at the source code of any blog or website, you will see this at the top most section of the codes.
<meta name=”description” content=”This blog is all about blah blah blah” />
The Head Meta Description let’s you add a meta description dynamically by getting the first couple of words from your post. To maximize this plugin, make sure that the first few words on your post/article contains the keywords that you’re promoting.
SEO Title Tag
Your post titles are by default the ones that are being used for Title Tags.
For most website owners, the title tag is the most important part of a website when it comes to SEO. On some blogs, instead of seeing short and catchy titles, you will see “A post on how I managed to make millions in five days using blah blah blah”. That’s because they want the search engines to pick up the keywords on the title. Now, with this plugin, you can override the post’s title with a custom one (more loaded with keywords)
Ultimate Tag Warrior or UTW
A plugin that every blogger who’s serious in making money online should use. This plugin allows you to add tags on the post page in wordpress. It also shows suggestions using the Yahoo! keyword suggestion service. The tags that you entered can then be translated as meta keywords for your single post pages.
Google Sitemaps Generator
Google sitemaps is just the best thing that can help you get indexed by Google. This plugin lets the blog owners to feed pages that they would like Google to add in it’s web index. It basically makes a list (sitemap) of posts, static pages, categories and archives that you want to be available for crawling.

Sociable Plugin
You’ve probably seen this on other blogs. This is a social bookmarking plugin that lets you save or share any interesting pages that you see online. It lets you add links at the end of your posts so your readers can get to those sites.
If you feel this is too much, I would suggest to download at least the Google Sitemaps. It will only take about 20 minutes tops to install.
