Nokia N82

Filed under: technology — Wrote by admin on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 @ 9:17 pm

Now this is what I’m talking about.

Before I bought my E65, my first option was Nokia N80. To my utter dismay, there weren’t any stock left on all shops that I visited. It has been phased out a couple of weeks before I’ve decided to buy a new phone. It’s all good though since I got a better deal (except for the cam, that is).

Anyway, back to my post. I’m so happy that N82 is already out. This one is a much improved version of N80.

With 5MP featuring Carl Zeiss Optics, I hope this will produce way better photos than E65. It lets you share as you shoot using a mobile gallery and a one-click photo upload directly to the web via Wi-Fi connectivity. This phone also allows you to create multimedia shows with video playbacks of up to 30 fps and high quality stereo sound. It has full web browser support, digital home capability, bluetooth, wifi, email, document, and many more.

Cell Phone Upgrade?

I swear I love my Nokia E65. I can take pictures easily (unlike our bulky, heavy DSLR), record music and videos, video and audio streaming, wi-fi connection so I can connect to the Internet anywhere I am, and lastly but most importantly, I can read ebooks in any format. The tagline for this phone is “where style meets substance” and I couldn’t agree more.

Still, if I have to rant about it, I’d definitely wish for a better camera quality. The package says it has 2MP but the quality of the photos are not even close as to those from N70. What I have are yellowish, blurry pictures especially if the lighting is really bad. I have about twenty reasons why I love this phone and one reason why I don’t. Unfortunately, that one reason is enough to make me want to change to another model.

I’m not really the type who wants to be updated with the latest cellphone model. In fact, I only bought this phone because I’m so tired of lugging the DSLR everywhere I go. Since the photos are not exactly the type that I can blog and brag about, it certainly defeats the purpose.

I don’t think I am like this. Very surprising huh? I love to think that my life is always an open book, but apparently, not.

Try it out yourself.

You Are Disturbingly Profound

You’re contemplative, thoughtful, and very intense.
Taking time to figure out the meaning of life is a priority for you.
Because you’re so introspective, you often react in ways that surprise people.
No one can really understand how you are on the inside… and that disturbs them.

Facebook?

welcome_3.gifEverytime I see / talk to an old friend, colleague or even someone I used to know from high school, the topic about me not having a facebook always comes up. The answer is always the same, WTH is Facebook? The last social networking site I’ve visited was Friendster and that was like what, 6 months ago? After being asked for the Nth time, I’ve decided to check it out. No, I’m not a member yet but it’s definitely worth something looking into. Why? One, 3 out of 5 great webdesigners I know have a Facebook account. Two, and this is the most important reason, a prospect for a website upgrade project asked about my Facebook account so he can look at what I have to offer. Now, isn’t having a portfolio enough? I guess not. Putting up your own website is one way of making yourself visible but if you’re serious in selling your services, you have to be seen everywhere.

The Apple TV

Oh, yes, I am crazy about anything that has to do with Apple. I blame my boss for this recent addiction of mine. Not that I own any Apple product except for an iPod, but still, it won’t stop me from checking out what’s new, hoping that I can get hold one of them soon. Plus, Apple.com is my top favorite website design of all time. Everything is so web 2.0 - lots of white spaces, huge boxes, fonts, gradient surfaces, shiny graphics and icons. It’s worth taking a daily trip just to inspire myself.

So now, on to the latest news - Apple TV.

What Apple TV does is let you rent movie directly from your TV. It has an interface that allows you to browse, rent, and watch movies from every major movie studio such as Touchstone Pictures, Walt Disney, Universal, Paramount and more. The movie rentals are $2.99 for library titles, $3.99 for new releases and $1 for HD titles with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. Movies are downloaded instantly and the faster your Internet connection, the better! And for TV show addicts like myself, you can also buy your favorite TV show for only $1.99 each. Still not enough? How about access to free content like YouTube, podcasts, photos, music videos? Yes, they have those too!

Yummy! My husband will definitely drool over this.

SEO Wordpress Plugins

Filed under: blogging tips, seo — Wrote by admin on Saturday, February 9th, 2008 @ 3:21 am

Okay, on to my first blogging tip.

This I learned from a client who asked me to install wordpress for him and then asked if I can add the 5 most important SEO plugins. He said that another designer offered him to do all those things so I told him I can do it without even having the slightest idea what he’s talking about.

Anyway, let’s start with the term SEO. What is SEO anyway? Let’s grab a couple of sentences from wiki shall we?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic“) search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it “ranks”, the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines

I’ve learned so much from that first project and been using the SEO plugins since then. As months passed by, the list have been updated so many times (mostly because of new wordpress updates) so I thought of just listing here the ones I have used. All my blogs and clients’ blogs are already using these and haven’t heard any complaints so far. There are also tons of articles written about these plugins so make sure to Google them when you have time. Now, if you ready to drive traffic to your blog, (more…)

Welcome to my humble abode

Hey you! You just found my little place on the web. This blog is obviously new so you won’t be seeing anything but my welcome post. However, I do plan to fill this with articles about all sorts of stuff that you can find in the Internet. There will always be something for everyone here. Whether you’re looking for web design tips or SEO 101, home improvement suggestions, entertainment news, technology buzz, links to money making online, or simply just want to read the ramblings of a twenty something woman who spends almost twenty hours glued in front of the computer, drinking coffee and always dreaming of four-cheese pizza, then bookmark this site and get ready to rock and roll. Whew, there. Did I just say all that in one sentence?

I hope to see you again soon!
